I have never written a review on anything I've bought online. This is the exception. My hair was breaking off mid-shaft for a year and a half, I stopped colouring it, my hairdresser hadn't cut it in a year because there wasn't enough to cut. I tried castor oil, rosemary oil, scalp massage, nothing. I'm in perimenopause and my doctor said it was normal for my age. A locum finally tested my ferritin. It was 14. Ok this is going to be long but I need to help anyone else going through this. I lost about 40% of my hair in six weeks. My hair used to be SO full and suddenly I was pulling clumps out in the shower and seeing my scalp in photos. Biotin, rosemary oil, expensive shampoos, scalp serums, hundreds of dollars, nothing. Finally got my ferritin checked (not just iron, ferritin, there's a difference) and it was 14. My doctor said 'in range' and I wanted to scream. Iron tablets had destroyed my stomach before so I was nervous, but this is a much smaller dose with the vitamin C built in and I've had zero stomach issues. Three months in: short new hairs everywhere. My hairdresser noticed before I said anything. If your hair is falling out and doctors keep saying you're fine, get your ferritin checked.

I'm a pharmacist so I don't buy into wellness nonsense. But I also know that 'normal' lab ranges are not the same as 'optimal'. My ferritin was 16. Technically in range (the lab range starts at 12). My GP said I was fine. But I was exhausted, foggy, and my hair was thinning. Ferritin should be at least 50 to 70 for energy and hair. The lab ranges are 'you won't die' ranges, not 'you'll feel good' ranges. What I like about this formula is the dose. 14.5 mg of iron with 120 mg of vitamin C gets absorbed instead of sitting in the gut the way 325 mg of ferrous sulfate does, and it has the B12, B6 and folate that the iron actually needs. 10 weeks in, ferritin up to 39 on my last test. Energy genuinely better. Shedding has slowed way down. Still a way to go but this is working.

Ok I was VERY skeptical because I've wasted so much money on hair supplements that did nothing. I have a drawer full of biotin bottles. But this is different because it's addressing WHY my hair was falling out (low ferritin) instead of throwing random vitamins at it, and it still has the biotin and the silica for the hair itself. Been 10 weeks and the shedding has definitely slowed. Seeing short new hairs at my temples. Not a miracle, but something is actually happening. Buying another three.

If I could give it 10 stars I would. I normally don't leave reviews even when I like something, so this clearly impressed me. It does everything listed. I have so much more energy, my hair is fuller with less shedding, and there's colour back in my face. Whoever made FerraMax, thank you. I will always be a customer.
